The Most Iconic Halloween Costumes of 2016

Halloween may be over but we’re all still recovering from a year of some truly iconic costumes. Creativity, flawless execution and well-thought out representation, these costumes have it all…

1. No-Face

Momo's Facebook

Five-year-old, Momo Lo, from Taiwan had no idea the attention her costume would invite when she dressed as her favorite animated character, No-Face, from “Spirited Away.”

“Who do you want to go as for Halloween?”
“Do you like no face the most?”

And play the part Momo Lu did. In a sea of princesses and childish movie characters, Momo stuck out like a sore thumb. Her classmates didn’t seem to share her love for no face, though. But, the tears of her peers only seem to make Momo feel more successful. Considering the mass of attention the costume and reactions got her, Momo didn’t do too bad for herself. Maybe next year, people will be going as, “Momo the overnight sensation.”

2. Beyoncé (“Hold Up”)

Hold up! They don’t love you like we love these tot-costumes. This five-year-old gave Beyoncé a run for her money. Armed with a familiar gold dress and a baseball bat, this cutie isn’t playing any games. She came to win.

3. Dog and Toy; Man as Dog and Toy

The next costume is a two-part win. The first is of a man dressed as his dog’s favorite Gumby toy. The video of the dogs reaction to his owner’s costume went viral.

The result of this viral video created the next costume. “The guy who dress as Gumby and went viral.”

The costume may not of gotten the reaction intended, though. People were slow to pick up on the creativity of the costume venture. Maybe it was a bit too soon to catch on. No worries “Gumby man and dog recreation,” we’ve got your back.

4. TLC

This trio take the trophy for perfection- right down to the stitches of their clothes and those effortless poses. This TLC costume was bad in all the right ways.

5. The Plastics

Mean girls costumes will never lose their charm: these three girls prove that with the iconic pink ensembles. From the look like outfits to the ‘burn book,’ these “Plastics” were on-point.

6. Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime. Talk about original. It takes a special kind of Halloween love her to reach this level of genius.

7. Severed Head

Severed Head

There have been a lot of tutorials for ‘severed head’ Halloween make-up, but this mom takes it a step further and transforms into “a severed head in the freezer.” If you weren’t already feeling boring and basic from this list, let that feeling sink in now.

8. Romy and Michelle

Romy and Michelle

Romy and Michelle. It may not be original but it’s definitely a chronic. The dynamic duo was brought to life flawlessly.

9. Samsung Galaxy

Nowadays, there are really no limitations to creativity or originality of Halloween costumes. There’s always that one costume that makes you want to simultaneously slap your forehead and clap your hands in appreciation.  A burnt Samsung Galaxy phone is the complete embodiment of jaw-dropping and “no they didn’t” kind of costume.

10. Bette Midler as Winifred

Bette Midler

Most people wouldn’t be able to pull off dressing as themselves for Halloween. It’s who you are the other 364 days of the year, so where’s the fun in that? Bette Midler as her character in Hocus Pocus is, and will always be, the exception to this rule. After all, who would have the gall to mess with Winifred Sanderson?

11. Girl as her  ‘Grandmother’

While its hard to find a costume that hasn’t been done before, there are few who brave the unique, often misunderstood costumes. It might not be considered ‘cool’ to dress up as your grandmother, but that didn’t stop this young girl. What better way to say ‘I love you’ than dressing up as your favorite family member?

Celebrities & Their Clothing Lines

Celebrities often decide to launch their own clothing lines because they know that their names will sell the clothing and do its own marketing! It’s genius. However, with so many celebrities making perfume, shoes, shirts, etc., it’s often hard to decide which ones are the best! Let’s take a look at some of the most successful female celebrity clothing lines!

Beyoncé decided to, once again, make the world STOP yesterday with her release of Ivy Park. Usually, Queen B has us all bowing down when she releases a surprise album or wears a jaw dropping Givenchy dress, however, this time she had the world getting into formation for her newest project, an active wear clothing line. She released her line called Ivy Park on March 31st on Ivy Park’s Youtube channel. The active-wear is collaboration between Beyoncé and Top Shop’s Owner, Sir Phillip’s Green. The new line by Bey isn’t available until April 14th and it’s already a success. Everyone is talking about how hot the sporty outfits look and we are all impatiently awaiting the release of Ivy Park so that we can be more motivated to workout. You will be able to find her line in over 50 countries and online!

Another songstress who has found success within the clothing industry is Rihanna. The “Kiss it Better” singer partnered with Puma to create a clothing line that is as BA as you would expect from the singer! Rihanna, who is now the creative director of Puma, helped design the Puma’s Creepers that have been a huge success. The shoes are constantly sold out and everyone wants a pair! Rihanna was also a part of New York’s Fashion Week with her Puma line and has, since then, released her first original shoe through Puma called the Trainer by Fenty. They have also proved to be a success, with many of the colors often being sold out. Rihanna is certainly on top of her game right now!

Kylie Jenner is another female celeb that has found a lot of success with selling clothes with her name attached to it! Kylie has a collection through PacSun with her sister, Kendall, called Kendall & Kylie. The two sisters also have a collection with Topshop called Kendall + Kylie. The youngest of the Kardashian/Jenner family has also partnered with Puma to create a pair of shoes. Her pair of sneakers called, Puma Fierce, launched today. Of course, most of the colors and sizes are already sold out! So the shoes seem to be a huge success! Kylie also has her own lipstick kit that is following in her older sister’s footsteps and breaking the internet. Kylie’s lipstick kit broke Google. The lipstick immediately sold out when she first sold them. The next time she decided to relaunch them, Google’s Analytics’ stopped working because it couldn’t handle the traffic flow. Kylie, at 18, is definitely making her name within the fashion world!

She’s baaaccckkkk!

Queen Bey (Beyoncé) surprises us all with a new song released on Feb. 6, 2016 through Tidal.

After dropping her self titled, full-visual album “Beyoncé” back in Dec. of 2013, we haven’t heard much from the “Drunk In Love” singer. Fans have been anticipating new music, but could never be too sure with Bey.

Beyoncé’s new song title “Formation” is a newly proclaimed Black History Month, black empowerment, black female empowerment and anti police brutality anthem. The visuals in the music video are both symbolic and telling. Beyoncé’s daughter, Blue Ivy, even makes a short appearance smiling in an all white dress and rocking her curly Afro.

“Y’all gonna lean bout dem children of Celestine & Matthew, lol. Slay sis, slay. And Slay niece, slay,” Beyoncé’s sister Solange tweeted in support.

The song can be purchased through Tidal streaming services, but because Beyoncé is in such a giving mood you can sign up for a free 90 day trial NOW!

Beyoncé is set to perform with Cold Play on their new collaboration “Hymn For The Weekend” during this year’s 50th Super Bowl halftime show. Maybe, just maybe if the Queen is so gracious we can anticipate a performance of “Formation” as well.

In case you forgot what happened when Beyoncé performed the halftime show, she knocked the power out for 35-minutes after her performance!

Speaking of the Super Bowl, tonight is the 50th game and the Carolina Panthers will face the Denver Broncos in an all out showdown.

As much as we are looking forward to the endless wings and calorie-filled snacks, we can’t wait to see the hilarious and sometimes raunchy commercials from the Super Bowl. Most importantly, we are excited about the halftime show!

Take a look back at Super Bowl’s halftime performances from the last five years!

Beyoncé Sings “Drunk In Love” with Ed Sheeran

imageThe Global Citizen Festival took place this past weekend and the one performance has our jaw on the floor. A little background about the The Global Citizen Festival first: The festival is an annual event aimed at raising awareness and support for global issues to bring our world one step closer to a better life for its citizens. The Festival started in 2012 so it is still very new but it’s making a huge impact.

This year was full of amazing talents and speakers including the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama. This year’s line-up of performances included Pearl Jam, Ed Sheeran, Cold Play, Ariana Grande, Tori Kelly and Beyoncé.

imageAll the performances were absolutely phenomenal and of course the Queen Bey never disappoints. Not only did she completely steal the show with some of her chart topping hits, she collaborated with Pearl Jam to do an acoustic cover of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” and a cover of her hit “Drunk In Love” with Ed Sheeran that may have you debating if you like the cover or original more.

This isn’t the first time Bey and Sheeran have hit the stage together. They did an amazing tribute to Stevie Wonder at last year’s  Grammy Tribute Concert with Gary Clark Jr. You can check it out below!

For the full six hour show and to see what issues are being targeted and how you can  start your action journey you can check out the Global Citizen Festival webpage on how to get started for free!
