The Rise of Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande has had quite the rise to fame. The “Dangerous Woman” singer started her career on Broadway! She was in the musical 13. She then got the role of Cat on the Nickelodeon show Victorious. Most people have long since forgotten about her TV acting days. Since then, she has definitely made a name for herself in Hollywood. She has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry right now, like Nicki Minaj, The Weeknd, Big Sean, Zedd, and even Lil Wayne. Her first released single “The Way,” featured Mac Miller and reached the top ten on the billboard charts. We all knew then that the songstress was around to stay. After the release of her first album Yours Truly, critics had nothing but good things to say! Her range was compared to that of Mariah Carey’s. That comparison has stuck with Ariana throughout her career.

She has since, released another album titled My Everything. The album included singles like “Problem,” “Love Me Harder,” and “Bang Bang.” All three of these songs became instantly big. For the past two years, you can’t turn the radio on without hearing Ariana’s voice. Ariana’s biggest song “Problem,” which featured Iggy Azalea, reached number 2 on the Billboard charts.

What makes Ariana so special is her mesmerizing voice. Her voice is angelic and has so much range that she can hit the unbelievably high notes and still sound great doing a much lower note. Ariana also presents herself in a much more “friendly” way. She dresses much more moderately than a lot of the other pop stars today. Her constant wearing of cat ears have also made their mark on her appearance and is something that people think about when they hear her name.

Ariana is now working on her latest album. She has released four songs from the upcoming album, the first one being “Focus.” The song is very pop-like and instantly gets stuck in your head. She even got Jamie Foxx to work with her on the song! Next came the song “Dangerous Woman.” The song is much different than her past songs but is just as catchy. She then released a song titled “Be Alright.” In this song, Ariana really shows off her voice’s range. Her most recent release features Lil Wayne and is called “Let Me Love You.” The song is sexy and catchy and is sure to be a hit!

The End of American Idol

Some TV shows are good, others are great, and others are so riveting that they become an iconic part of our culture. One of these shows, unfortunately, came to an end last night. American Idol, which made its debut in 2002, aired its finale episode of its final season. In the shows fourteen year run, it had some of the best ratings and produced some incredible artist. Let’s take a quick look back at some of the best moments in American Idol’s history!

The first season blessed us all with the lovely Kelly Clarkson. Before Kelly was producing top billboard hits such as “My Life Would Suck With You,” and “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You),” she was trying to make it big by auditioning for, what was called at the time, American Idol: The Search for a Superstar. After the songstress was announced the winner, all of our lives changed. We were all hooked to American Idol and we all got to hear Kelly Clarkson’s phenomenal voice on the radio. Our lives were all improved!

Another great aspect of the show was Simon Cowell. The judge, who helped start the show in 2002, stayed on the show until 2010. Simon was known for making very frank remarks and causing controversy. His comments would often cause conversations all throughout America because of how harsh they were. However, this became a part of American Idol that we all fell in love with or hated…either way we liked to watch it. Here are a few of the best quotes from Simon Cowell:

“If your life guard duties were as good as your singing, a lot of people would be drowning,” “It was almost like you were giving birth up there at the end,” “You’re a beautiful girl, but you’re ugly when you perform,” “You ran the 100 meters…in 5 minutes.” Oh…Simon…we have missed you since you left Idol.

The fourth season of American Idol brought us all Carrie Underwood. The “Jesus Take The Wheel Singer,” won the show in 2005. The singer won the show and released her debut album, Some Hearts the same year. The album became an incredible success, being the fastest selling debut country album and the bestselling female debut album in country music history! Carrie has won seven Grammys, proving that American Idol has definitely benefited all of our lives and America’s pop culture.

In 2009, American Idol was on Season 8. Luckily, two people from this season became successful. The winner of this season, Kris Allen, has released three albums and one Christmas album. His song “No Boundaries,” peaked on the Billboard charts at number eleven! However, the biggest artist from this season was Adam Lambert! Adam, who was the runner up of the season, has seen great success. His songs “Whataya Want From Me,” “If I Had You,” and “Ghost Town,” have been stuck in all of our heads at some point. Season 8 was a great time for American Idol.

On Season 12 of American Idol, there was certainly an interesting cast as judges that made the show even more entertaining. The judges were Randy Jackson, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, and Nicki Minaj. Whose idea was it to put two pop divas in the same room for such a long period of time? As the season began to progress, the coverage of the show was no longer on the contestants but the judges. Mariah and Nicki had a famous feud all throughout this season. The media was constantly covering the shade that the two were throwing at one another. One of the best fights between the two that made us all life was:

Mariah: “I wanna lose three pounds.” Nicki: “I know how you can.” Mariah: “It’s a quote from Mean Girls. If you knew Mean Girls, you’d know.” Nicki: “I do know Mean Girls.” Mariah: “OK, who says, ‘I want to lose 3 pounds’? Which character?” Nicki: “Um, not Lindsay, the other one, with the blond hair.”

Mariah: “What’s her name?” Nicki: “You know something? Mariah…” Mariah: “I just wanna know. Broken promises!”

Ohhhhh what a time this was for American Idol.

Now that Season 15 has come to an end and the winner, Trent Harmon, has been announced, lets talk about the biggest star of the fantastic show. Ryan Seacrest. Ryan proved himself to be one of the best hosts in TV history. His run with American Idol, which lasted all 15 seasons, earned him a great spot within American pop culture. We all know his face and his fantastic voice. Thank you Ryan for helping with bring this incredible show to all of us in America!

Adele Raps Nicki Minaj’s Monster Verse: Must Watch!

The karaoke car ride we have all been waiting for has finally been bestowed upon us!

Adele recently took a car ride with fellow Brit James Corden and flexed her rapping skills. Corden is known for bringing the biggest names in music like Justin Bieber and One Direction along for a ride to belt out tunes in his car.

Corden opens the skit with a parody of Adele’s lyrics to ‘Hello’ before they start to duet the song and she utterly is blown away by his spontaneous harmonies. The pair are an absolute riot together as the joke about Adele getting drunk during the holidays and jam out to the Spice Girls.

Adele has gone on the record to say she is a huge fan of Beyoncé and if she could collaborate with anyone it would be Drake, but we didn’t know she was a huge Nicki Minaj fan. Last year marked the five year anniversary for Minaj’s famous verse from the song ‘Monster’ that featured Kanye West and Jay-Z.

The ‘When We Were Young’ singer definitely channeled her inner Minaj, giving us facials, attitude and her signature finger wag.

When Minaj caught a glimpse of the clip she immediately posted the video to Instagram and captioned it, “Pull thru, QUEEN!!!!! #Adele #Monster the attitude & fingers to match. #Oh #Ok #IcoNic I cried when she waved bye to the careers #Hello #BuhBye

Tell us what you think of Adele’s rapping skills using the hashtag #GlamorousPaper

Sunday Paper: December 27, 2015

2015 is almost over so we’re taking you through 10 of 2015’s top trending moments.

10. Shia LaBefou ‘Just Do It’ 🙇🏻
Full equipped with his rat tail, LaBefou has had a rather interesting year. From being arrested and live tweeting his own reactions to his starring roles to making inspirational videos, we were all motivated to ‘just do it’.

9. Baby Yeezus👨🏾👩🏻👧🏽👶🏽
After the announcement of Kimye expecting their second child and revealing it would be a boy, the world could not wait to meet baby Yeezus. Kim Kardashian gave birth to Saint West on Dec. 5th after posting an Instagram photo just hours before her delivery captioning it, ‘Ready whenever you are lol.’ Saint joins North as another addition to the Kardashian-West clan.

8. Kanye President 2020 👨🏾🇺🇸 🗽
Yeezus for President! At least that’s what the 38-year-old rapper proclaimed at this year’s MTV VMAs. After giving a speech that seemed to do nothing but drag on after receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, Kanye announced his run for the White House in 2020. We aren’t entirely sure if he was serious because he was under the influence and drinking something brown, but we can only cross our fingers he wasn’t serious…

7. Drake Diss 👦🏽👊🏾🔥👨🏾
R.I.P. Meek Mills. Just when you thought the Internet killed Meek Mills, Drake went ahead to bury him. After Meek claimed that Drake doesn’t write his own raps he tried to make a diss track about Drake in which Drake fired back with three diss tracks that had the Internet blowing up. Do you need some ointment for that burn, Meek?

6. Justin Bieber Album📀🙏🏼
What do you mean you didn’t get J-Bieb’s ‘Purpose’ album? The ‘Where Are Ü Now’ singer returned to music this year with heavy celebrity promotion and memes for his new album ‘Purpose’. The Biebs also performed at the MTV VMAs for the first time in five years and broke down on stage. After cleaning up his bad boy image, Justin appears to have a new found faith, respect for his fans, and purpose for his music.

5. White/Gold vs. Blue/Black Dress
I mean, should we really speak about it? You know, the dress that started wars, broke families and friendships, and reeked havoc on every soul it encountered? Okay maybe that’s a little dramatic, but that damn dress fooled us all. Earlier this year a photo surfaced of a dress that appeared to be white/gold while others saw it as blue/black. The internet went crazy asking for answers as to how two people looking at the same dress could be seeing different colors. The answer? The lighting in which the dress basically plays a trick on our retina and how we perceive color.

4. Miley, What’s Good? MTV VMAs 👸🏾🚫👧🏼
Talk about an ‘oh sh*t’ moment! At this year’s VMAs after the ever graceful Nicki Minaj took to the stage to accept her award for Best Hip Hop Video. After eloquently thanking her pastor, Minaj turned to host Miley Cyrus and called her out for talking badly about Minaj in a previous interview. ‘And now… Back to this bitch that had a lot to say about me in the press the other day. Miley, what’s good?’ Meme history.

3.Steve Harvey Miss Universe 👨🏾🙇🏾👸🏽🚫👩🏻👸🏻                                       At last week’s Miss Universe pageant, Family Feud host Steve Harvey made the most epic mistake on television. After announcing Miss Columbia as the new 2015 Miss Universe, he later back tracked and said she was the runner up. The real Miss Universe 2015 title would go to Miss Philippine. The Internet exploded with memes of Harvey’s cringe worthy mistake. Harvey apologized profusely for his mistake and even poked fun at himself while posting a Christmas photo with the caption ‘Merry Easter y’all’.

2. Adele Album 🙋🏼.                                                                                    We’re just going to throw out a random number and see if you can find any significance in it. 3.38 million… Any ideas where we got this number? Oh, that’s just the album sales for one week of Adele’s new album ‘25’. The ‘Hello‘ announced her new album earlier this year and blessed us with her new single ‘Hello’ (which is still no. 1 on the charts). From her NBC Live In New York special and announcement of her North American and European tour to her SNL performance, self impersonation skit, and chart shattering album, Adele has owned 2015.

1. DJ Khaled Keys To Success 🔑🙌🏾
DJ Khaled showed us his SnapChat is the key to our success. Take these into your 2016.
