The wedding bells are ringing proud and true after this Friday when America finally legalized marriage equality across all 50 states. Before the announcement only 36 states had marriage equality rights but this new law bridges the gap for the remaining 14 states. The announcement came after the Supreme Court voted with the verdict being 5-4. Tons of LGBT members and allies rallied in the streets hugging, kissing and embracing one another for a long time coming.

“Those countless, often anonymous heroes, they deserve our thanks. They should be very proud. America should be very proud” were the words President Barack Obama uttered as he wrapped up his speech giving thanks to the people that endured persistent strife over the matter but never gave up in their efforts.

Tons of media outlets, organizations and businesses showed their support by changing their media icons to rainbow themed banners. Twitter joined in the celebration with the hashtag #LoveWon and posting pictures outside the capitol building of tons of people holding hands, crying, kissing and cheering. Facebook also gave the option to change users profile pictures that included a rainbow filter. Important buildings around the country projected rainbow lights on to the buildings in celebration for this huge victory for the LGBT community.

Sunday Paper June 7, 2015

Check out this week’s top stories in pop-culture and entertainement news in this week’s edition of your Sunday Paper!

The story that has had the media and tabloids buzzing this week was none other than the revealing of the new “Vanity Fair” cover. “Vanity Fair” revealed the upcoming issue’s cover featuring former olympian Bruce Jenner who is now going by Caitlyn Jenner after her transition. A couple of week’s back Bruce Jenner revealed in an interview with Diane Sawyer that “for all intents and purposes I am now a woman.” He went on to say that when the cover of Vanity Fair is revealed “I am free.”

image

The cover featured Caitlyn with ivory lingerie, wind-blown hair, a sassy red lip stain and the caption “Call Me Caitlyn.” Tons of celebrities, LGBT members and allies showed their support on Twitter with the hashtags #IamCaitlyn, #CallMeCaitlyn and #CaitlynJenner.

With all the positivity unfortunately came negativity and Chris Brown and Drake Bell were of the two that had backlash from transgender-supporters. Chris Brown known for being outspoken re-posted one of Snoop Dogg’s Instagram pictures calling Caitlyn a “science project.” Kylie Jenner, Caitlyn’s youngest daughter, who is close to Brown immediately fired back commenting on the post, “Not very nice to say about your friends dad.” She then took to twitter to tweet, “State what you want about the world without bashing others. Leave a positive impact.”

Drake Bell from the Nickelodeon television show “Drake & Josh” also received backlash after refusing to recognize Caitlyn in a tweet. He has since apologized for his tweet for being “thoughtless” and “insensitive”.

Overall there has been so much support and visibility in the trans-community. Caitlyn Jenner is finally living her truth and inspiring lots of others to do the same. Go Caitlyn!

Last weeks post covered the Duggar family scandal which involved their oldest son Josh Duggar who molested five underage girls when he was a teenager, four of whom are his sisters. The Duggar parents Jim Bob and Michelle had an exclusive interview with Fox New’s Megyn Kelly on her show “The Kelly File” that aired last Wednesday.

image

Jim Bob and Michelle where both teary-eyed and looked to each other throughout the interview to find support. Both parents were adamant about protecting their son’s reputation and minimizing his behavior. They said they did the best they could do in their circumstances, sought out counseling for Josh and had him speak to authorities about he had done.

image

“He was still a kid. He was still a juvenile. He wasn’t an adult. This was not rape or anything like that. This was touching someone over their clothes.” Jim Bob said in the interview.

The Duggars decided to go forth with the television show despite the molestation because they did not see a reason not to.

“When they asked us to do that reality TV show, all of this had been taken care of five years before, and we had a clean bill of health from the state,” Jim Bob said.

Jim Bob went on to say they were fine before the show and would be fine without it. Lots of big name advertisers have already started pulling their ads from the show or at least started taking steps toward doing so.

The family and TLC network have both been receiving backlash from the media and viewers to cancel the show or lend their two cents in the matter. Extra’s very own Mario Lopez took to Twitter to pay his as well.

The “Saved by the Bell” star tweeted back to back tweets calling out the Duggars for their Fox News interview. The tweets have both received over 3,000 retweets and 5,000 favorites. I guess he said what we were all thinking.

It’s official. Bruce Jenner has made the transition from Bruce to Caitlyn, making her debut on the July cover of Vanity Fair. The title of the article is “Call Me Caitlyn.” She also made a Twitter account this week, sending out the first tweet and gaining over one million followers in less than a day. Daughter Kendall Jenner sent out a tweet in support of Caitlyn’s debut. Several other members of the Kardashian clan also tweeted out their kind words and congratulations. It’s good to know so many people are being supportive of Caitlyn’s transformation.

Host Billy Eichner also tweeted support to Caitlyn, but added a twist of humor to it. He took this opportunity to remind us that during a concert, Enrique Iglesias was severely injured by a drone. His hand got caught in the propeller and he required immediate medical attention. The concert was paused for about a half hour, but after getting patched up, Enrique came right back out and finished performing. Now that’s an artist!

Kim Kardashian Expecting Baby Number 2

Kim Kardashian discusses her second pregnancy in the Newest issue of Glamour.
Kim Kardashian discusses her second pregnancy in the Newest issue of Glamour.

It’s a big week for the Kardashian- Jenner family! One day before Vanity Fair introduced Caitlyn Jenner to the world; a clip of what is to come on Keeping up with the Kardashians revealed that Kim Kardashian is expecting her second child with husband Kanye West.

The pregnancy news comes after months of fertility struggles and a lot of trying on Kim and Kanye’s part. Kim’s efforts to get pregnant have been well documented this season of KUWTK. Kim stated that she and Kanye were trying to get pregnant about “500 times a day” and Kanye previously said he was doing everything he could to have another baby with Kim. She started in vitro fertilization and rumors were starting to circulate they they were considering surrogacy. The most recent episode even ended with Kim stating that she was “so over” the process.

The process must have paid off though because in the preview for the second half of the season, Kim is seen telling Khloe “I just got the blood test back and I am pregnant!” After the announcement, momager Kris Jenner and Kardashian’s best friend Jonathan Cheban congratulated Kim and Kanye on Twitter. However, the rest of the family stayed pretty quiet on Social Media (maybe preparing for the reveal of Caitlyn?). Kim did discuss the pregnancy new in a cover story for Glamour, which hit newsstands today. Kim stated that she a Kanye were “so beyond excited” to be having a second baby.

Kim and Kanye are already parents to daughter North West, who will turn two on June 15. The announcement of their impending bundle of joy led many to joke that the new baby should be named South West. The couple just recently celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary on May 24.

Do you think Kanye and Kim will have a boy or a girl this time? Do you think they should name their child South? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter using #glamorouspaper.

Welcome home, Caitlyn Jenner

The moment we have all been waiting for, well, truthfully – the moment Bruce Jenner has been waiting for has FINALLY arrived. Caitlyn, formerly, Bruce Jenner has made her first official appearance as a woman.

Caitlyn’s transformation journey has been published in Vanity Fair (on shelves tomorrow, Tuesday, June 2nd), and we are here to give you a wrap up of the 22-page feature story.

While she has just begun to reveal her story, it is clear that this has been a lifelong journey of secrets, emptiness, and now bravery and triumph.  During a comparison between winning an Olympic Gold medal to her first photo shoot as a woman, Jenner admitted to Buzz Bissinger (author of VF article) that this moment was much better. “This shoot was about my life and who I am as a person.”

Although Jenner has been waiting for this moment for several years, she suffered panic attacks immediately after her facial feminization surgery (she has not had genital surgery). Jenner had regretful thoughts, “what did I just do to myself,” – but those feelings quickly went away once she realized she had become the person she has always wanted to be. Jenner tells Bissinger that if she had never revealed her true self, she would have lied on her deathbed thinking, ‘you just blew your whole life.’

Jenner reflects on memories of wearing a bra and pantyhose underneath her suit during public speaking events, thinking to herself, ‘they know nothing about me.’ She explains her time as Bruce as a life filled with lies – lying from sun up until sun down, but now, Caitlyn doesn’t have any lies.

Caitlyn talks about her family and the mistakes she made as Bruce saying, “I have high hopes that Caitlyn is a better person than Bruce. I’m very much looking forward to that.”

Caitlyn’s family showed nothing but love and support today after the release of the Vanity Fair cover.

Here are some of their social media posts:
