Most Under Utilized App: Dropbox

In this section, we will regularly sharing apps we find extremely useful or fun (or both?). This time we are covering Dropbox

I’m always surprised at how many people aren’t taking advantage of cloud services. Ever run out of memory on your phone? I know I used to. Now I have a 64gb iPhone 6 so storage isn’t really an issue but it’s also because I’m saving my photos to the cloud. I currently have a few thousand photos on my camera roll. I would consider myself a bit of a digital hoarder. I save almost all the pictures that I take.

Whether it’s a family photo or a silly candid shot of my babe. It’s my photo and I have an attachment to it. I don’t want to delete it just to make more room.

This is where Dropbox comes in because it’s the new scrap book or photo album. You can save all your pictures there and not need to worry about space. You get 2 gbs with a free account and you can get more if you are a student or refer your friends! I’ve already built up 6.9 gbs and nowhere near using it up! They also have paid options if you need more space but I haven’t even reached 50% of my storage.

Dropbox is also good if you’re working on a group project. You can share a folder with your group members and everyone can contribute files to the folder. You can share folders with family members and have all the pictures from the holidays in one place. Someone take a good pic of you? I always hate that because I have to practically beg them to send it to me. Now you have somewhere everyone can share their pics from that night.

Another cool thing is that Dropbox has apps for all your devices. They also have an app in the Mac Store so you can easily transfer files from your phone onto your computer or vice versa. Dropbox shows up as if it were a regular folder on your computer and that makes it super convenient when transferring files.

There’s so many possibilities with DropBox and I’ve just scratched the surface. Are you using it already? Let me know how you like and use in the comments. If not, check it out for yourself and let me know below if it’s useful. Use other service? Tell me which is better in the comments.
